Nottingham Post Business Awards 2018
On Tuesday, months of anticipation, hard work and tough decisions culminated in the Nottingham Post Business Awards 2018. The event saw members of Nottingham’s thriving business community join together for a night of celebration as their achievements from the last 12 months were acknowledged. Businesses both big and small and from a range of sectors were rewarded at the ceremony, with UNiDAYS winning the highly contested Company of the Year title.
Awards were handed out in 14 categories last night, stealing the title from previous winners in categories such as Business Entrepreneur of the Year and Contribution to the Community Award. There were also several new categories at this year’s awards, including Customer Service Excellence Award, Property Professional of the Year, Employer of the Year and Excellence in Industry Award.
The Event Night
The black-tie ceremony was once again hosted at East Midlands Conference Centre, nestled in the heart of Nottingham city. Tuesday’s ceremony got underway with a speech by Nottingham Post editor and publisher, Mike Sassi. Overseeing the event proceedings were event hosts award-winning comedian and television presenter, Mark Dolan, and theatre star turned television presenter, Lucy Nicholls. During the event, more than 400 guests were wined, dined and entertained by the stunning vocals of The Garnett Family.
The Garnett Family
This year the Nottingham Post Business Awards were honoured to welcome Britain’s Got Talent finalists, The Garnett Family, as the entertainment for the night. The family, who then consisted of the mother, Helen, and her three daughters Rachel, Anna and Abigail, wowed judges on the ITV hit show. One powerhouse vocalist is something to brag about, but four is something truly unique - but that’s reality for The Garnett Family.
2018 has marked a change in the family dynamic as Helen has temporarily bid farewell to her eldest daughter, and fellow singing sensation, Rachel, as she ventures on a tour of Australia for 12 months. However, the show must go on, and the family ia thrilled to have welcomed the newest member, Lindsay Dracass, to keep the harmonies flowing. Lindsay, who proudly and impressively represented the UK in the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest is an excellent addition to the group and is sure to bring yet more vibrancy to the well-established family.
With hundreds of people in attendance, the Nottingham Post Business Awards presented a fantastic opportunity to raise valuable funds for the chosen charity, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. A local East Midlands Charity, Rainbows work tirelessly to care for the lives of young people who are suffering from life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.
With the Nottingham Post Business Awards now complete, the awards team are preparing for the Derby Telegraph Business Awards. Held at the Roundhouse on Wednesday 13th June, the event is due to be a sell-out, acknowledging business successes in Derbyshire.
